Workplace 6 is a six-storey, A-grade commercial tower located on Darling Island Wharf in Pyrmont, Sydney. The building comprises a basement-level car park; the renowned Doltone House function centre on level one, and the Google offices on levels two to six.
Following a deconstructive cladding investigation by third-party engineers, it was discovered that six types of cladding, across a large part of the building, needed replacing. These included roof parapet capping, horizontal sunshades, level six parapet capping, faux-balconies on all elevations, ground level awning fascia cladding and column cladding on all elevations.
The objectives of the project were to replace all combustible elements of the facade with new, non-combustible materials; remediate all affected areas of the facade; comply with the Building Code of Australia; and replicate the architectural design of the original construction, including panel sizes, joint set-out, joint details and colour.
Scope of works
- Preparation and submission of all quality assurance/quality control
documentation - Progressive demolition of the facade’s combustible elements
- Progressive replacement of all cladding in accordance with the approved design
