Duratec were engaged by Barrick to carry out significant concrete repairs to their stock pile plinths.
Details
This project involved the hand breakout, delineation and form and pour of a high strength concrete repair mortar.
Once the repairs had cured the plinths were treated with the application of a surface penetrating silane cream designed to impede the ingress of water and chlorides. The stock pile columns will then be abrasive blasted and coated with a two pack epoxy system in order to protect against future corrosion.
Highlights
- Precast âTâ Blocks were installed behind each of the stock pile plinths in order to create a safe working environment for the Duratec specialist crew.
- Reinforcement bars were grit blasted and primed followed by the installation of a new slim line sacrificial anode, designed to reduce unnecessary breakout and inevitably extend the life of the structures steel.
