The aim of this project was to rectify and conform the
compliance of electrical installation identified to be within hazardous areas.
Details
A hazardous area is defined by AS/NZS 60079.10 as: an area in which an explosive gas atmosphere is, or may be expected to be, present in quantities such as to require special precautions for the construction, installation and use of equipment.
Hazardous areas were identified at both HMAS Stirling at Garden Island and RAAF Base Pearce in Bullsbrook.
The project scope was to rectify/ensure compliance within these areas and included:
- Detailed grade inspection.
- Reparation works.
- Updating the hazardous area equipment register.

- Great communication between asset owners and Duratec leading to successful completion of the project.
- Successful identification of additional equipment on both sites that failed to meet hazardous area compliance.
