The Council for the Township of Charters Towers is currently investing in an upgrade of their water treatment facilities which involves some new construction as well as the remediation of existing assets.

Details

As part of the upgrade, our North Queensland branch installed new acid resistant linings to several concrete bunds and refurbished the main clear water tank.

The tank required abrasive blasting and coating of the internal steel wall, surface preparation and coating of the concrete floor as well as the installation of a joint sealing system to the floor construction joints and the steel wall to concrete floor joint around the internal circumference of the tank.

Highlights

  • The wall to floor joint re-sealing was a critical aspect of this project. It was challenging as it required a fast installation time without compromising adherence to the manufacturer’s installation specifications.
  • To minimise water use restrictions, we were tasked with completing the works within a tight time frame. We actually completed the work well ahead of time, which meant that the council did not have to enforce any water restrictions at all. The tank was refilled without any leaks.

Capabilities

  • Tank & Pipeline Integrity Services
  • Waterproofing
