Rio Tinto’s Sustaining Capital Division delivers sustaining, improvement and technology projects to support their Pilbara operations in producing iron ore in a safe and cost-effective manner.
Rio Tinto’s Structural Integrity Program emphasises the management of asset inspection, prioritisation of repairs and development of long term maintenance and capital budgets to meet its business requirements. Detailed tracking of structural defects to close out ensures asset structural integrity is never compromised.
Following on from our engagement last year on the 2019 Pilbara East Structural Integrity Project for Rio Tinto at West Angelas, Yandi and Hope Downs iron ore mines, we are back this year at Yandi for site-wide structural integrity works over a 15 month period.
The works will include provision of site facilities, provision of access, surface preparation, NDT assessment of structural loss, structure replacement and strengthening, surface preparation and application of protective coatings, concrete repair and steel fabrication and installation.
During online works Duratec will have up to 30 team members on site delivering the works on a regular two week on one week off roster. Offline or shutdown works will see teams of up to 65 people on site during these critical works.
