Duratec’s recent project at Simpson Barracks in Melbourne provided a unique opportunity to showcase and engage with local Aboriginal artists.
The original scope of works included the installation of interior blinds for the admin building’s windows, however, external window film was suggested as an option due to access constraints. The project team then determined that incorporating Indigenous artwork into the film would greatly benefit the client.
The artwork, Generations of Wurundjeri, by local Wurundjeri man Stephen Nicholson, has received praise from individuals and departments across the base. The artwork represents “Wurundjeri generations linked together, passing on stories and culture”. The intricate details and vibrant colours integrate into the surrounding environment seamlessly and have captivated all those who have viewed it.
